PATTAYA, Thailand – Residents and visitors in Pattaya are being urged to stay vigilant as Thailand’s Meteorological Department forecasts increased rainfall nationwide over the second half of September, with a possible tropical system approaching the country at month’s end.
From September 16–21, moderate to heavy rain is expected across central and northeastern regions due to the monsoon trough, while the southwest monsoon continues to bring showers to the southern provinces, including rainfall along the Andaman coast in Ranong, Phang Nga, and Phuket. The lower Gulf coast may also see heavier rain in localized areas.
The most intense rainfall is expected between September 22–25, as a low-pressure area is likely to develop over central and northeastern Thailand. This could lead to heavy to very heavy rain in low-lying areas, particularly in central Thailand and parts of northeastern Thailand, raising the risk of flash floods and landslides.
Authorities warn residents near rivers, slopes, and flood-prone areas to exercise caution. Motorists are advised to drive carefully during heavy rainfall, as sudden downpours may affect road conditions.
By September 26–27, early signals indicate the potential formation of a storm system moving toward Thailand. The Meteorological Department urges the public to follow official updates closely and avoid relying on unverified social media reports. Pattaya officials are monitoring the situation and preparing emergency measures to protect residents and tourists.
