Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt monitors rainfall and canal water levels as rain temporarily eases.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt monitored the city’s rainfall situation today, noting that rain is expected to ease, providing an opportunity to release water from canals in preparation for the next wave of rain.

Governor Chadchart visited the Bangkok Drainage Department’s Flood Control Center at City Hall in Din Daeng to review conditions with officials. He said heavy rainfall over the past weekend exceeded 100 millimeters in several areas. According to the Meteorological Department’s weather map, the low-pressure trough causing the rainfall has moved northward to lower northern and upper central regions, while Typhoon Tapah, currently over southern China, is pulling another low-pressure system northeast. Although rain remains, it has lessened, allowing water management operations in the canals.

Today’s forecast predicts heavy to very heavy rain in Nong Chok, Min Buri, and Lat Krabang districts, while moderate rainfall is expected in Bang Kapi, Phra Khanong, Bang Khun Thian, Prawet, Khlong Toei, Suan Luang, Watthana, Saphan Sung, Khlong Sam Wa, Bang Na, and Thung Khru districts.

Regarding canal water levels, the overall situation on the Thonburi side remains good. Khlong Thawee Watthana is only slightly affected near construction of the Thawee Watthana drainage tunnel on Phetkasem Road. On the eastern side, Khlong Prawet Buri Rom, which had been a concern, has improved. Water levels remain below critical points, but authorities continue to manage flows carefully to handle incoming rain. (TNA)

Water released from canals prepares the city for incoming rainfall, reducing flood risks in key districts.

Authorities maintain careful management of Thonburi and eastern canals to prevent critical flooding.
