Thai government disburses over 641 million baht in relief for border clash victims across seven provinces

Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai reported that disaster relief zones have been declared in seven provinces, covering more than 315,000 households affected by recent Thai–Cambodian border clashes.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Phumtham Wechayachai has reported on the government’s relief and rehabilitation operations to date in response to recent clashes along the Thai–Cambodian border. The situation has led to the declaration of disaster relief zones across seven provinces, including Ubon Ratchathani, Sisaket, Surin, Buri Ram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat, covering 45 districts, 336 subdistricts, and 4,081 villages. This status allows for the rapid deployment of aid and emergency resources.



Based on data from the Ministry of Interior, 315,476 households and 779,379 individuals have been affected. To date, the government has disbursed over 641 million baht in assistance. This includes over 18 million baht for fatality cases and 351,788 baht for 36 individuals injured.

Provincial governors have allocated more than 201 million baht from emergency disaster relief funds. Nearly 3 million baht has been used for the construction and repair of bomb shelters in Surin province. An additional 198 million baht has been provided to support living expenses and operational needs across six provinces.


The Ministry has also completed repairs on 533 homes with a budget of 18.6 million baht. Electricity bill subsidies totaling 392 million baht have reached 278,506 households through the Provincial Electricity Authority. The Provincial Waterworks Authority has offered water bill assistance to 21,361 households and 138 temporary shelters, totaling nearly 11 million baht.

Phumtham stated that the government continues to coordinate across agencies to ensure timely compensation, accelerate home repairs, and maintain support for basic needs. Monitoring is ongoing to make sure all affected households receive fair and complete assistance. (NNT)
