Police warn of repeat gold heists, with suspects often using disguises and quick escapes, while shoppers are urged to stay alert as malls strengthen security and staff training.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Police in Pattaya are issuing warnings to shoppers and mall owners after yet another high-profile gold shop robbery highlighted ongoing security lapses that stall operators have failed to address.

Despite repeated incidents across the city, including recent daring raids where thieves disguised themselves to bypass security, some gold shops continue to leave vulnerabilities unaddressed. Officials report that thieves often exploit predictable routines, insufficient surveillance, and poorly secured display areas.

“Owners must take proactive steps to safeguard their merchandise. Leaving gold exposed or failing to implement basic security measures invites repeated criminal attempts,” said a local police spokesperson.

Police suggested that it would be wise for shops to install bars or additional protective measures at their storefronts. “We understand bars aren’t very attractive and might affect customer appeal, but it’s better to be safe than sorry,” the spokesperson added.

Authorities also advised shoppers to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately. Mall management has been urged to upgrade security systems, conduct staff training, and coordinate with local law enforcement to prevent further losses.

In past incidents, suspects have used disguises such as delivery uniforms, and sometimes motorcycles for quick escapes, making it difficult for police to respond in real time. Investigations continue, and police have promised strict enforcement and harsher consequences for repeat offenders.
