BANGKOK, Thailand – During a ceremony to assist soldiers wounded in recent border clashes, the 2nd Army Commander stated that the Thai-Cambodian border remains “50-50” in terms of stability. He cautioned that Cambodia cannot be fully trusted and affirmed that Thai forces are ready to respond to any clashes.
The commander also expressed gratitude for material support provided to frontline troops, noting that some urgent needs exceed regular military budgets. He praised the dedication of soldiers across the nearly 1,000-kilometer border and highlighted that King Rama X has taken special interest in the welfare of injured personnel.
Looking ahead, the commander said he plans to hold discussions with Cambodian military leaders at the end of August through the RBC mechanism, aiming to reach mutual understanding before a subsequent GBC meeting. He reassured the public that the Thai military is fully prepared to carry out its duties while prioritizing national interests. (TNA)
