
BANGKOK, Thailand – Government officials invite the public to enjoy the beautiful light decorations across Bangkok in honor of National Mother’s Day on August 12, celebrating the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother.
Anukul Pruksanusak, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, announced that the Department of Rural Roads and the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) have collaborated to install over two million decorative lights along key locations. These include the Amphorn Sathan Throne Hall, Sukhothai Palace, the Grand Palace, Sanam Luang, Chitralada Palace, Dusit Palace, Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall, the Royal Plaza, Tiger Stadium, Government House, Ministry of Interior, Ratchadamnoen Nai, Klang, and Nok Roads, and Si Ayutthaya Road. The lights will shine daily from 6:00 p.m. to midnight until August 19, 2025.
The Department of Rural Roads will illuminate 12 bridges over the Chao Phraya River within Bangkok and its vicinity. These include Maha Chesadabodindranusorn Bridge, Krung Thon Bridge (Sanghi), Phra Phuttha Yodfa Bridge, Phra Pok Klao Bridge, Somdet Phra Chao Taksin Maharat Bridge, Bhumibol Bridge 1 and 2, Krungthep Bridge, Rama III, Rama IV, Rama V, and Rama VII Bridges. The bridge lighting will be visible from August 10 to 13 between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., with extended hours until midnight on August 12, the Queen Mother’s birthday.
This initiative honors the Queen Mother’s benevolence and creates a festive atmosphere for this important national celebration. The public and tourists are warmly invited to experience the dazzling displays free of charge, promising a memorable and educational visit. (TNA)
