PATTAYA, Thailand – Maybe you can’t kiss the Blarney Stone. but there’s a distinctly traditional touch to Jameson’s Irish pub and restaurant. Nestling in Soi A.R. in central Pattaya, roughly halfway between Central Marina and Big C Extra, there’s a treat in store for international and Thai visitors.
Run by personable manageress Phak, who has a Scottish boyfriend David who works as an executive in Saudi Arabia, the varied menu is organized by chef Nueng who has been in charge of the kitchens for longer than most guests can remember.
There’s a Sunday special with all the trimmings for 325 baht and a substantial three-course weekly menu at a knockdown 295 baht. The a la carte menu has Irish flashbacks, including Irish Stew Irish spice bags, as well as meatballs from Sweden and striploin from Australia.
Brits are tempted with cottage pie, bangers and mash and crispy-batter fish and chips. There are some unusual items such as tomato soup served with a grilled cheese sandwich and a very comprehensive Thai menu. Not to mention beers and spirits galore with, of course, draft Guinness a favorite amongst regulars.
Add to that hugescreen sports TV outlets, a snooker room and lots of historical memories from photos of Laurel and Hardy to air aces of the 1940s and you have caught the diversity of the rich Jameson experience. Check out the menu details at jamesonspattaya.com
