
BANGKOK, Thailand – Thai citizens are encouraged to visit three historic temples along the border in Surin province to stimulate the local economy.
Commander of the 2nd Army Area, Lieutenant General Boonsin Padklang, has invited the Thai public to travel to border regions to support local merchants. He specifically highlighted several historic sites in Surin province. He encouraged visiting these areas and purchasing local products from shops along the border routes to boost tourism and the grassroots economy.
The commander pointed to the Ta Muen Temple Complex Historical Park as a key destination. This includes Ta Muen Thom Temple, a beautiful stone castle reflecting ancient Hindu art and beliefs. Nearby is Ta Khwai Temple, a laterite stone castle located in Phanom Dong Rak District. The third temple, Ta Muen Tot Temple, is also situated in the Phanom Dong Rak mountain range.
The commander made his remarks during a visit to Wat Phra That Si Chompa Maha Rattanaram in Sakon Nakhon province. The event was a merit-making ceremony that raised 691,606 baht to restore the temple. During the visit, a consecration ceremony was held for the “Phithak Phaendin” series of amulets. These will be distributed to soldiers serving on the border to provide protection and boost their morale. (NNT)
