Neale Savery celebrates his winning round at Bangpra, joined by runner-up Allan Cassin and Mark, who gamely embraced the spirit of the game – and the wooden spoon.

PATTAYA, Thailand – The Mabprachan crew returned to Bangpra Golf Course on Tuesday, 24 June for another chapter in their ongoing love-hate affair with this storied course. Rain made a short cameo, softening fairways but not dampening spirits. Curiously absent were the infamous monkeys, perhaps put off by the drizzle or tired of heckling high handicappers.

Neale Savery delivered the round of the day with a solid 36 points, finally cashing in on recent form—and even snagging a near pin for good measure. Allan Cassin came in second with a respectable 30 points, while others like Mark experienced the sport’s darker side, aiming for the wooden spoon with the grace of a man embracing destiny.

Eleven hopefuls turned out for the week’s second contest, this time at Pattaya Country Club on Thursday, 26 June. With sunshine and a forgiving breeze, the course welcomed back veteran Paddy Devereux and hosted some strong scoring despite a few patchy greens.

Willem Lasonder came out of the shadows in emphatic style, notching a superb 40 points to claim the win. A tight pack chased the runner-up spot, but it was Rob Pentland who prevailed on countback, edging out Paddy Devereux, Paul Davies, and Tuesday’s winner, Neale Savery.

Near pins were claimed by a well-rounded trio – Paddy, Steve Sturley, and Paul Davies – while Dave Smith was last seen in deep contemplation, wooden spoon in hand, plotting revenge.
