
BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra emphasized the importance of safety for all public transit users, both above and below ground. She observed a full-scale emergency response drill at the MRT Orange Line (OR14) station in Huai Khwang, Bangkok, led by the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) and integrating military, police, and transit authorities.
The exercise simulated various crisis scenarios including crowd control, sabotage fires, active shooter situations, hostage rescue, and deployment of special forces. The Prime Minister praised the coordinated efforts and clear protocols that boost public confidence and effective crisis management. She highlighted the role of advanced technology in strengthening security responses.
Prime Minister Paethongtarn also thanked all government and private sector participants for successfully organizing the diverse and realistic drill scenarios, which help responders prepare for actual emergencies. She extended her support and encouragement to all officers and agencies working to ensure public safety, emphasizing that such preparedness is vital to national confidence and security.
