Authorities urge protesters to respect legal boundaries and avoid disrupting public peace during planned Bangkok rally.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s national police force has announced the deployment of 1,200 officers to manage a planned public demonstration on June 28 at Bangkok’s Victory Monument. Authorities are urging protestors to exercise their rights peacefully and in accordance with the law.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Archayon Kraithong, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police (RTP), said on Tuesday that the Metropolitan Police Bureau will oversee crowd control operations, following formal notification of the rally organizers under the 2015 Public Assembly Act.

He emphasized the importance of balancing freedom of expression with public order, stating: “We encourage the use of freedom within the legal framework to minimize disruption to public space and avoid impacting fellow citizens.”

The police force will focus on negotiation and communication with rally organizers to ensure the demonstration proceeds without incident. The security deployment will include traffic police, safety personnel, and intelligence officers who will monitor the situation before, during, and after the event.

Special surveillance and screening checkpoints will also be set up around key transit routes and BTS stations to prevent the infiltration of bad actors or those intent on inciting unrest, according to Archayon.

The RTP is also calling on the public to avoid the Victory Monument area on June 28 to prevent travel delays, though traffic in general will remain open. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activity or emergencies via the 191 hotline, available 24 hours a day.
