
BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s Suchata Chuangsri was crowned the 72nd Miss World on May 31 at the HITEX Exhibition Center in Hyderabad, Telangana, concluding a month-long festival of cultural immersion, charity work, and international celebration. The Miss World Festival 2025 involved 108 contestants from around the globe, with India hosting the pageant for the third time and Telangana for the first. The grand finale, streamed worldwide, showcased regional heritage and public engagement across four weeks of events.
Suchata, representing Asia and Oceania, also won the contest’s multimedia category and topped the official app leaderboard with more than 2.3 million views. She received the crown from Krystyna Pyszková of Czechia, last year’s titleholder. From 40 quarterfinalists, the competition narrowed to a Top 20, then Top 8, and finally to the four continental winners, who delivered closing statements before the jury made its final decision.
The other three continental titleholders were Hasset Dereje of Ethiopia (Africa), Maja Klajda of Poland (Europe), and Aurélie Joachim of Martinique (Americas and Caribbean). Dereje was named first runner-up, Klajda second, and Joachim third. Additional regional titles were awarded to contestants from Brazil, the Philippines, and Australia. Judges also considered fast-track challenge winners and personal interviews in selecting the finalists.
The ceremony included performances by Bollywood stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Ishaan Khatter, and appearances from former Miss World winners and social advocates. Actor Sonu Sood received the Miss World Humanitarian Award for his public service, while philanthropist Sudha Reddy was appointed Global Ambassador for the Beauty with a Purpose campaign.
