PATTAYA, Thailand – Mayor Poramet Ngampichet, alongside city executives and council members from all four districts, is moving forward with efforts to improve public safety by upgrading street lighting across local communities. The initiative replaces outdated lights with energy-efficient LED bulbs — a move praised by many locals for enhancing nighttime visibility and reducing electricity costs.
“Our mission is to make Pattaya a safer, better city,” the mayor stated, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to tangible progress.
Residents took to social media to express appreciation, saying, “It’s so bright it feels like daytime. I come home at 10–11 p.m. and feel much safer.” Others applauded the improvements but voiced concerns over neglected areas such as Soi 6 Photisan, Sukhumvit-Pattaya Soi 32, and the railway crossing near the Naklua low-income housing project — locations that remain poorly lit.
Some residents also suggested adding security cameras and decorative touches, like dolphin motifs on the poles, to both improve safety and highlight Pattaya’s unique identity.
City officials acknowledged the feedback and promised to continue expanding lighting coverage while listening closely to public concerns.
