Dusit Thani Pattaya has hosted the cast and crew of “Gal Sone’s Special Feature of Thailand”, more popularly known as “Gal Sone’s Tokuban”, a TV show in Japan that highlights travel destinations.
Gal Sone, also known as Natsuko Sone, is a famous TV personality in Japan who has earned the reputation of having a voracious appetite for food.
The crew had a short stay in Dusit Thani Bangkok and proceeded to Dusit Thani Pattaya where they held a mini cooking competition on how to make “tom yum kung”, a spicy and sour Thai dish that has become a favorite among other Asian and western people alike for its wonderfully pungent taste and flavour. Participants included Gal Sone herself and Sumiko Nishioka, the campaign talent for the Japanese market of Thai Airways International.
The culinary competition was shot at the terrace of The Bay, the hotel’s Italian Restaurant with Gal Sone emerging as the winner. Its airing date in Japan is on 16 September 2008.

Another step forward for Pattaya, was the opinion of Pattaya City Mayor Itthipol Khunplome at the opening of the new GI and Liver Center in the Bangkok Hospital Pattaya.
Prior to his cutting the ceremonial ribbon, the guests were welcomed by Dr. Pichit Kangwolkij, the director of the hospital, who said he was proud of the fact that so many of the residents have placed their faith and trust in the hospital. The audience was also welcomed by Associate Professor Varocha Mahachai, the director of the new Center, along with her colleagues Dr. Thitima Vatanakul and Dr. Jaruvan Jantaraprapaiwan.
With the latest diagnostic and screening equipment at their disposal, the Gastroenterologists at the Bangkok Hospital Pattaya believe that the ability to discover cancer at an early stage will do much to improve the general health of the people in Pattaya. For people over 50 years of age, a colonoscopy as a screening procedure is recommended, particularly if there is any family history of bowel cancer, or any symptoms which could be caused by neoplasms in the colon.
Following the cutting of the ribbon, the guests were taken on a tour of the new facility and the various types of endoscopies were explained.

Following the first batch of rice sent to Isaan by the Charity Club of Pattaya for the needy in the villages in Buriram and the surrounding areas, Malcolm and Christina Boden of the Charity Club went shopping at Tesco Lotus South Pattaya with the money donated by Steve Puttock and Apple, owner of the K.R. Bar Jomtien.
After numerous trips back and forth to the store they handed it all over to Peter Rottmann (Charity Club’s representative for the Isaan area) to distribute to the villagers in need.

Bangkok Hospital Group visits Taksin-Pattaya Rotary

Dr. Iain Corness
The sister hospitals, the Bangkok Medical Center (BMC) and the Bangkok Hospital Pattaya combined in a health promotion exercise for the Taksin-Pattaya Rotary Club.

Dr. Michael Moreton from BMC spoke to the club members on prostate cancer, with an amusing and informative lecture on the subject. He also suggested that the digital rectal examination for males was nothing compared to the problems women have in female cancer checking, with pap smears and mammograms.
The Bangkok Hospital Pattaya’s International Marketing team was on hand, with Dr. Iain there to back up Dr. Moreton and emphasize the concept of preventive health maintenance in this male area.
Bangkok Hospital Pattaya also provided some free health checks for the Rotary members, with Sister Tida recording blood pressures (and hopefully not sending them up)!
