Government admits reduction of road accident figures unlikely
On December 8 the government set a new target for road
accident figures over the New Year period, while conceding that economic
expansion and population growth meant that a drop from last year’s figures was
unlikely.
Speaking to provincial governors, senior police officers,
provincial doctors and transport officials at a Bangkok conference, Deputy
Interior Minister Sutham Saengpratoom said that the government hoped to keep
road fatalities over the New Year period close to last year’s levels, when
there were 628 fatalities and 26,100 injuries.

Deputy Mayor Wuttisak Rermkijakarn, on behalf of Pattaya
City, recently presented Clean Food, Good Taste certificates to 82 hotels
and restaurants in Pattaya. Each establishment had passed rigorous tests to
achieve this award of distinction.

Redemptorist Vocational College for
the Disabled hosts Chonburi Disabled Day
More support needed in disabled community

Students, directors and honored guest converged on the
Pattaya Redemptorist College for the Disabled on November 29 as part of
the Chonburi Disabled Day. The theme of this year’s event was
“Disabled persons ... valued partners investing in society”. Joining
the activities were members of government and private enterprise and
residents from Pattaya City and Chonburi province.

YWCA Warm Family project holds “Family Adoration Day” activity
Scholarships presented to local pupils
Mayor Niran Wattanasartsathorn presided over the opening
of “Family Adoration Day”, which was organized by YWCA Bangkok-Pattaya,
headed by Nitaya Patimasongkroh, president of the Warm Family project,
Malinee Sarimarn, administrative president of YWCA Bangkok-Pattaya, and
many VIP’s from various Pattaya organizations who support scholarships
for needy children.

Treasure hunters set sail
off Jomtien beach
4th annual windsurfing event heads for Larn Island

Over 30 windsurfing enthusiasts laid course for Larn
Island in the Island Treasure Hunt Race 2004 after a running start on the
sands in front of the Pattaya Park hotel. The annual event, now in its
fourth year was organized by the Amara Sailing Center and held last weekend.
