GIS students ‘managing’ McDonalds!
GIS
students ready to serve customers
Students from Garden International School recently
visited McDonalds in Rayong. It was a part of the IB (International
Baccalaureate) Business and Management studies to observe how different
sections of the ‘fast food’ industry carry out their functions in the
community.
The students were warmly welcomed by the cheerful staff
members from McDonalds. They were given a tour of the facilities, and
shown where and how the special McFries and McBurgers are made. The
washing and cleaning production line was also observed as the utensils are
placed in the unique ‘McDishwasher’ and cleansed with the special
‘McLiquid’ soap.
Students were fascinated to learn the process and
various stages that a simple burger has to go through before it is served
to the customer - and all within a strict two minutes time limit. A
highlight for the GIS students was to experience below zero temperatures
as they spent some ‘cool’ time in the McDonald’s refrigerator.
It was a memorable experience as the students made
their own burgers and ice-creams, while observing the high hygiene
standards and levels of customer service at McDonalds.
The students will now write up their observations and
present any recommendations they have to the McDonald’s team in Rayong.
Fountain of Life children treated to a day with horses
The
children from the Fountain of Life had an enjoyable day at the Pattaya
Riding Club.
For the second year running, the children from the
Fountain of Life were invited to spend the day at the Pattaya Riding Club.
The morning was spent walking in the mountains,
discovering nature and admiring the breathtaking views.
Back at the stable, after enjoying a tasty lunch, the
children were very excited to sit on Caramel, Gogo and Sinpanpan, the
three steeds for the afternoon. All the children thoroughly enjoyed
walking and trotting with their new friends.
A
Fountain of Life child has a fun time riding Caramel as Tiina from the
Pattaya Riding Club leads them along.
The Pattaya Riding Club looks forward to seeing them
all again next year.
Once back at the center, the children drew thank you
cards, some of which are shown here.
Pandamonium! at St Andrews
“These
pandas aren’t real, are they?”
Students and teachers at St Andrews International
School and Dutch School are bearing up after a week of panda mayhem. All
students have been studying and learning about the giant panda and the
reasons why its numbers are rapidly decreasing. Students, teachers and
parents decided to take action and join the World Wildlife Fund for Nature
by taking part in a sponsored walk to raise money to save the panda.
With masks, costumes and plenty of enthusiasm, students
frantically tried to “spot the pandas” on the walk circuit. Older
students managed to complete a 6 km walk around the grounds of the Green
Valley Estate.
“The
bamboo is this way, follow me.”
Walk organizers and teacher Andy Nightingale said,
“The WWF walk was a huge success. It was a great way to end a very
educational and enjoyable week. I would like to thank the students,
parents and teachers for their efforts in walking and collecting sponsors.
We are pleased to announce that we have raised 65,000 baht to help save
the panda, which will be sent to the WWF. In return, the school will be
able to adopt a panda for a year.”
Mrs.
Scribbans lead the way.
