It is believed that the purpose the Kong Khao culture is to offer the spirits of the dead food in order to rid them from their dwellings and to cleanse ones soul and home.

People come to the fair bringing along ample amounts of food and desserts. Once there, they light up joss sticks whilst praying.

It is also recommended for people not to take back home any of the leftover of food as the spirits may follow them as well.

Nowadays, the practice of this tradition is fading away, as less people are involved. That is why Khun Chatchai Timkrajang is trying to revive this ancient culture to take place every year from now on as it is a part of their native culture.
