George Washington arrives in Thailand

USS George Washington arrived in Laem Chabang, Oct. 2 for a five-day port visit
to Pattaya. USS George Washington is the flagship of the George Washington
Carrier Strike Group (CSG), which is commanded by Rear Adm. Dan Cloyd. The GWCSG
includes Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5, Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15 and the guided-missile
cruisers USS Shiloh (CG 67) and USS Cowpens (CG 63).

at Chonburi Buffalo Races

Already renowned for being a full
week of fun, the Chonburi Buffalo Races get more activities this year as
officials look to make the popular event even more so. The 139th races are set
for Oct. 16-22 on the field in front of the Chonburi District Office. Two new
games aimed at elderly participants - sack races and blind-folded pot lifting -
were added this year, said Chonburi Mayor Sumana Muthaki.

Tavern by the Sea’s Thursday Carvery

The Amari’s Tavern by the Sea is making its mark on Pattaya. Called Henry J
Beans for a decade it was given a total refurbishment around three months ago,
and a change in direction from being a quasi-American diner to being much more
of a sports bistro.

Are male drivers better than female ones?

New research has shown that, if nothing
else, three year old boys are better drivers than three year
old girls. The experiment involved over 70 pre-school boys
and girls who took part in a series of controlled tests.
