Pattaya celebrates HM the Queen’s birthday from dawn ‘til dusk

A respectful young elephant at Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens says happy birthday to Her Majesty the Queen. Pattaya-area residents came out from dawn until dusk to celebrate HM Queen Sirikit’s 77th birthday, marking the occasion with merit-making, health checks, candle lighting, prayers and a parade.

Navy search for stranded man proves futile; ghosts suspected

It doesn’t take much for Thai boat captains to report seeing ghosts, so when the Royal Thai Navy couldn’t find a man seen by one skipper waving for help on a Samae San Bay Island near where numerous scuba divers have died, the natural conclusion was it had been a visitor from beyond the spectral plane.

Bang Phra airshow next weekend

The Thai Flying Club in Bang Phra (just North of Sriracha) will host its annual fly-in and airshow on Saturday, 29 August, starting at 2:00 p.m. The Thai Flying Club is the oldest private flying club in the Kingdom and is a base to over 30 small aircraft.

Members of the Royal British Legion Thailand were invited to a meeting recently with Kasemvudhi Kaothone, the Chonburi state prosecutor. The meeting, held at the Tide Resort, Bangsaen Beach, Chonburi, was an informal affair and aimed at improving working relationships between Chonburi government offices and the British community. Like all youngsters I had a train set. Hornsby 00 if I remember rightly. You can imagine my surprise when I spotted what looked like a train set inside Tesco Lotus on Sukhumvit Road, South Pattaya, but instead of tenders and passenger cars, this train set was ferrying food to, around and past the diners.
