supporting former Rotary president, Peter Malhotra who, on behalf of
Rotary, made the presentation to Sakchai Khumchoo, director of the Chonburi
Observation and Protection Centre.
Sakchai pointed out that there were presently 185
children at the Centre but, “Due to a lack of budget we have had problems
acquiring equipment to manage the facility and providing needed items in
the children’s housing quarters”.
Sakchai added, “The government is trying to solve this problem by
distributing the number of children from the 76 provinces housed by the
Child Welfare Services Department, thus relieving overcrowding at some of
the other centres. Currently there is a total of 43 child welfare centres

Underwater World hosts special “A Shark’s Tale” event
Suchada Tupchai
A cheeky Angelfish was the star of the show at a recent
activity organized by Underwater World in Pattaya.
Underwater World Pattaya Company, SF Pattaya Cinema, and
United International Picture Co. Ltd. cooperated to organize the showing of
the animated cartoon, “A Shark’s Tale; A Mischievous Shark” on October
6.
Activities
organized by the Underwater World staff in Pattaya in front of and inside
the SF Cinema.
The presentation, the first outside Bangkok, was led by
Underwater World’s MD Apiradee Bunsom, who also organized other special
activities for the public including games and a question and answering
session on ocean preservation. The well attended event aimed to promote
awareness of the importance of marine conservation, particularly in
Thailand.
“A Shark’s Tale; A Mischievous Shark” is a lovely story about
“Oscar”, the heroic Angelfish who made up a story that he could kill a
shark. Throughout the story he changes into a hero of the sea. The story was
funny and lovely. Many well-known stars lent their voices to the characters,
including Will Smith, Angelina Jolie, and Rene Zellwegger. The humor in this
film provokes many ideas for sea and coral conservation.
