Seems like entire Kingdom converges on Pattaya for one last hurrah

With the “rest” of the Kingdom celebrating the annual Songkran water fest a week earlier, once again this year it seemed as though the entire Kingdom converged on Pattaya, Naklua and Jomtien for one last chance to go wild with water for this year’s Songkran celebrations. People and pets, mobile phones and motorcycles, no one and nothing was spared a complete soaking in what has turned into the wildest water-related event on the planet. Michael proceeded to play to “Amazing Grace” and “Danny Boy” on the wood saw during an interval between featured speakers at the Sunday meeting.

The Market Pattaya opens with a bang

Pattaya’s newest addition to the shopping scene, The Market Pattaya, held its grand opening last Friday with a spectacular fireworks display that lit up the skies over the city.

“The Market Pattaya is now officially open as the city’s most complete shopping experience. We have 450 shops and stalls in nine separate zones. It is our intention to make The Market Pattaya as successful as the Chatuchak Market in Bangkok,” said marketing director Chatree Sophonburanarak, aka Meng Jatujak, in his opening address.

Pattaya Cricket teams missed the ‘Cut’ in Chiang Mai

Two Pattaya teams joined the fray at the 17th Chiang Mai International Cricket Sixes: Kim Fletcher’s “Shenanigans Malakas” and Rob Roberts’ “The Living Dolls”. In spite - or, perhaps, because of - a great innings by Kim who stayed at bat for the total match early in the week-long “cricket fest”, and a solid ‘knock’ for 31 (retired) by Rob, both teams were eliminated. But they will both be back next year.
