Pattaya City Expats Club member reveals hidden talent
Last Sunday morning at Henry J. Bean’s Restaurant on
Beach Road the Pattaya City Expats Club members were surprised when member
Michael Berris produced a saw and violin bow. Michael proceeded to play to
“Amazing Grace” and “Danny Boy” on the wood saw during an interval
between featured speakers at the Sunday meeting.
Michael
Berris, playing “Danny Boy” on the wood saw, admitted that maybe
slightly quirky behaviour was helpful for his line of business.
Michael, an Australian who admitted that maybe slightly quirky behaviour
was helpful for his line of business, amazed the members with the seemingly
simple technique to coax the sounds from the saw then admitted that he had
been taught when he was quite young and had been perfecting the playing
technique for a good number of years. Maybe someone else can give us a tune
on the spoons next.

Hospital director Dr Thanakom Mantannont introduced Dr
Navarach Narnsanti, a specialist in reconstructive and cosmetic plastic
surgery, and Dr Viroj Iamsiri, a neurosurgeon.
He described the new members to the medical team as
dedicated professionals who are amongst the top specialists in their field.
They will be permanently based at the hospital for both
emergency and consultant cases.
Their presence will be welcome especially during the
Songkran period when an increase in road accidents leads to permanent
disabilities in victims.
Dr Thanakom said at the press conference, “Phyathai
Hospital is equipped to treat all patients who visit it. We have focused on
developing and expanding facilities in all branches of medicine. Now with
the addition of two new specialists in the fields of neurosurgery and
reconstructive surgery, we’re capable of dealing with critically injured
accident victims in need of specific care.
“We are also focusing on educating people to help reduce the number of
road accidents,” he said.
Exclusive show a big hit at Horseshoe Point

The Horseshoe Point Resort and Country Club arranged a
special Songkran event for its guests and visitors at its show arena on
April 9.
The
Carrousel show was particularly well received.
“The show was fabulous,” said Jate Sopitpongsathorn,
general manager. “It consisted of a series of five forms of classic riding
- Solo, Pas de Deux, Aswin, Carrousel, and Electric Horse - which was
awesome and rare.”
The opening show, Solo, was conducted by Chanya (Cherry)
Srifeungfung, former national rider. She was great at controlling her horse.
The next was Pas de Deux by Chainarin and Chaikiri Srifeungfung, owners of
Horseshoe Point. Two horses, Napoleon and Mirage, were controlled to perform
the same actions by mirroring each other.
The third event was Aswin, named after the hero of the
event. Aswin is a young horse, both stubborn and keen. He performed many
amazing stunts, like standing on a round table on 2 hooves and then getting
back onto the ground. This was a real treat for the children who attended
the show.
The next item was Electric Horse. The performing horses
were lit up with electric lights which made them glow in the dark. The last
event was called Carrousel. Six horses and their riders danced as if they
were a carrousel.
At the close of the show, all the performers gathered with their horses
to thank the audience who applauded them with loud clapping and enthusiastic
compliments.
PILC enjoys Songkran luncheon at Casa Pascal

This month’s Pattaya International Ladies Club monthly
meeting was focused on Songkran and took place at the gourmet restaurant
Casa Pascal.
The ladies, who come from various countries, enjoyed
Pascal’s renowned lunch.
Sheri
Ferguson enjoys taking part in the ancient wan lai Songkran ceremony.
Club committee member Alvi Sinthuvanik had a special idea
to make this lunch a memorable event. She arrived with some young pupils who
were beautifully decorated with flowers.
They poured scented water over the ladies’ hands and
presented them with small flower garlands.
After, two little artists played Thai traditional musical
instruments.
Many of the ladies had never experienced something like this before and
were almost moved to tears. They enjoyed the children and their nice
tradition.
