Clubs

Pattaya Expats Club; expats helping expats. Breakfast meetings every Sunday, 11 a.m. at the Astoria Resort, just off Dolphin Circle (take the small Soi just to the right of the Dusit Hotel to the end). This Sunday features Mike Franklin “Mr. Golf” of the Eastern Seaboard and a discussion on how to purchase and register vehicles in Thailand. Lots of good info about living in Pattaya. The Pattaya International Ladies Club will host their August Luncheon on Tuesday, August 6th from 10.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bruno’s Restaurant on Pattaya 2nd Road in celebration of Swiss National Day. Very special guest speaker of the day will be Senator Meechai Viravaidya, founder of the Population and Community Development Association. Make sure you reserve your table before August 4th. Greg’s Kitchen is proud to announce that due to popular demand, the entire restaurant is now air-conditioned. Hans at the Paradise Cafe and Grill is preparing “A taste of Switzerland” throughout the month of August. Some of the Swiss specials include: lamb shank with garlic & herbs, stuffed beef roulade, braised beef schnitzel, pork fillet with fondue cheese sauce pork “Zurich style” and rabbit in red wine sauce. For those who look for something different, try one of the many ostrich dishes, a dining experience you won’t regret. Just a reminder that the 60’s Bar, Soi Regent Marina Hotel, better known as Soi Bowling, North Pattaya, offers 99 baht and 79 baht breakfast specials on Saturday, plus a regular breakfast menu and daily sandwich specials. Try the 1/2 pound burger. Rock & roll oldies radio stations are streamed live via the internet all day.

Check out the new daily specials at the Queen Victoria Inn (Soi Yodsak - 6), which include cod, chips, peas, bread and butter, beef stew and dumplings, sausage casserole, mince and tatties plus many more along with an extensive menu. A good time to visit is of course during Happy Hours every day between 2 and 5 when you can have a very reasonably priced meal or snack and drink Carlsberg draft for 40 baht. You can now watch all your favorite sporting events on the 70 inch big screen and remember when the big screen is down, whatever the time of day, so is the Carlsberg draft to 40 baht.

Events

The U.K Club has nominated the Camillian Centre for its charity for the year 2002. To start the ball rolling, they are having a sponsored walk/pub crawl starting at Soi 6 at the Queen Victoria Inn 5 p.m. on 28th July and ending up at the Pig and Whistle Soi 7. Entertainment

On Friday the 26th of July “The Soi Dog Blues Band” will be playing live at Shenanigans Pattaya on stage at 11 p.m. and on Saturday 27th July at 4 p.m. there is live rugby on the big screen, Australia vs. South Africa. Free bar snacks at 1/2 time. Sunday 28th July at 7 p.m. is the Formula One Grand Prix.

For those living on or near Soi Khao Noi (Formosa) or Soi Khow Talow can now visit the recently opened Prince of Wales Pub. It’s a family pub that one would feel comfortable taking the missus and kids. A full range of beers, now with Amstel draught, priced at 49 baht a mug with a Happy Hour price 39 baht. Happy Hours 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday and all day Saturday & Sunday. Drop in for a few! You can be assured of a warm welcome at Prince of Wales Pub, Soi Khao Noi.

What’s New’ from KL, Malaysia, plays nightly at the Moon River Pub. Don’t miss Mohd Nizam, the lead vocalist. He already has been the main attraction in various shows in Malaysia and has won many musical awards. He alternates between ballads and up-tempo numbers with his most expressive voice.
