Christmas cheer at International School of the Regents

Santa’s arrival caused quite a stir at ISR’s recent Christmas Fair. All the children were very excited to see him alight from his ‘carriage’ and gathered around to give him a special welcome.

Festive fun continued throughout the Fair with lots of activities for the younger ones, including face painting, lucky dips, Christmas craft and all sorts of games. Mums and Dads were able to shop at the market stalls and relax in the coffee shop. All in all - a very enjoyable morning for the whole family!

Ho! Ho! Ho! Santa makes time to visit the ISR Christmas Fair. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Burapha University students learn how Pattaya Mail is made

Assistant professor Sukanya Burandechanai, from Burapha University, brought 25 sociology and mass communications students on an educational field trip to the Pattaya Mail Newspaper Publishing Company on December 12.

The Pattaya Mail office, located at 370/7-8, Moo 9, off of Pattaya 2nd Road, first started in July 1993, with the plan of publishing the first English language newspaper in Pattaya. The newspaper is now distributed to readers all over Thailand, including major businesses outside of the local area and copies are sent to various embassies and VIPs in Thailand.

The students were introduced to the staff during a tour through the offices, where they spent a few hours getting a first hand look at the steps involved in assembling the newspaper’s weekly edition.

Burapha University is in the process of starting its own newspaper offering mass communications students the opportunity to gain experience in both theory and practice.

Starting with the basic function of reporters collecting the news in Pattaya and other areas in the eastern region, the students observed the other steps involved in producing a newspaper. Students visited the newsroom, the budget office, the sales and marketing section, and the computer graphics section.

Afterwards, the students paid a visit to Pattaya Mail’s printer, 87 Prin, located in Soi Photisarn in Naklua, and following the tour the students enjoyed a luncheon prepared at the Sher E Punjab opposite the Woodland Resort Hotel on Pattaya-Naklua Road.
