Prime Minister evasive at local “meet the press” session
Deferred all issues to provincial authorities

Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai didn’t have a lot to say when he met the press in Chantaburi.

Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai apparently hadn’t done his “homework” before meeting the Eastern Seaboard press in Chanthaburi last week. The purpose of the meeting was to allow reporters to obtain answers from the premier regarding local concerns. However, instead of providing any of his own insight, PM Chuan deferred all questions to his ministers and/or local authorities.

The prime minister had brought with him a panel of 14 of his cabinet ministers, which included the Ministers of Commerce, Finance, Foreign Affairs, Justice, Environment Science and Technology, Education, Interior, Labor and Social Benefits and five ministers from the prime ministers office.
