City readies for Pattaya Festival 2000

Hilltribes will be well-represented in this year’s Pattaya Festival 2000, as will a host of activities, shows, fun and entertainment from April 14-19.

This week it’s “Pattaya Festival” all the way, starting on 14 April and running until the 19th, with festivities located all along Beach Road.

The Grand Carnival Parade will open the festival on the Friday the 14th with a string of decorated floats, marching bands, dancers and marchers. Thousands of people are expected to participate, making this the biggest Pattaya Festival parade ever. Live television coverage will capture all the glorious moments.

Throughout the week, a number of on-stage performances promise to be grander than previous years, with a large main stage extending to the ocean front between Soi 4 and 5.

Contests galore will take place throughout the festival, which will include sailing races, speedboat races, banana boating, windsurfing races, fishing contests, boxing, beach football, takraw, golf, a dog show, cheerleading contest and others. Thai handicrafts, art and food products will also be on display.

Pattaya’s “Water Festival”, when the streets are turned into rivers and no one who ventures out escapes getting wet, will take place on Wednesday, April 19th.
