There’s not only sand in Pattaya -
there is also Red Earth.
Do you sometimes have a hangover? Or are you occasionally
depressed? Are you tense or stressed, with aching muscles, or do you suffer
from high blood pressure, insomnia, fatigue? Maybe you have bronchitis or a
cold, or just a simple headache? Help is on the way!
A new program from Red Earth, called Aroma-therapy, promises a world of
natural wonders. It uses essential oils extracted from the bark, leaves,
blossoms and roots of plants, herbs and flowers for its therapy. These
extracts are essential in the sense that they are very concentrated and 100%
pure without any chemicals added. For example, it takes 6000 kg of rose
petals to produce just one kg of oil, while no less than eight million
jasmine blossoms must be picked on the very first day they open, yielding a
mere kilogram of Jasmine Absolute Oil.
They say there is a herb for everything. Khun Yupa-pron, the manager of
Pattaya’s one and only Red Earth shop who has been working there since its
opening in November 1995, explained to me how to use essential oils. All you
need is a Red Earth burner (Vaporizer), fill it with warm water, add 5 - 10
drops of essential oil, light the burner candle and let the magnificent
aroma envelop you. Simple, isn’t it?
If you prefer a massage with essential oil, no problem. Just mix 2 - 20
drops of essential oil into 50 ml base oil and relax while having a massage.
Or you can use it to take a bath, for bathing is the most
invigorating way you can use essential oils, as it helps to unblock
congested pores and ease muscle tension and fatigue. While bathing, you feel
your body relax, it quiets your mind and calms the spirit. Only 10 drops of
oil are required to a full bath. To tantalize the senses, combine two or
three oils.
Not only essential oils are available at Red Earth. Also everything one can
imagine for all types of skin, like skin care, body care, sun care,
fragrances, soaps, bath & shower utensils, men serials, accessories and
everything for decorative make up are being produced and sold by Red Earth,
an Australia originated chain company, which has shops all over the world.
In Thailand alone there are twelve, in Pattaya so far only one.
The company is oriented towards environmental friendly products with no
chemical ingredients. The packaging can be recycled and there’s absolutely
no animal testing allowed. The price range is very reasonable: the cheapest
product, an eye make-up or a facial cleanser, is available for 190 Baht,
while the most expensive product will cost 790 Baht. Every month there is a

check.
The shop itself is very clean, all products are clearly arranged and the
interior is held in earth and natural colors. The sales people do understand
what they are talking about and are always eager to help with information or
advice.
