A nother holiday, another city-wide traffic jam

For much of the week-long Pattaya Countdown, Dec. 25 - Jan. 1, arteries from Sukhumvit Highway to Beach Road were packed with cars, taxis, motorbikes, vans and tour buses. Whether driving to the party at Bali Hai Pier, heading north on Second Road or trying to move east or west, traffic crawled, with large buses exacerbating matters, parking wherever they fit or saw fit. The story is nothing new: Each holiday or long weekend brings the same gridlock to Pattaya. Traffic police Maj. Dej Kewtaweewat said traffic is usually bad even on normal days. On holidays, it’s worse. He urged drivers to be patient.

Marine Safety Training Course opens for Pattaya boat captains

First ever Christmas lunch

While most foreigners in Pattaya were enjoying the Christmas festivities on December 25th, for the majority of local Thais it was just another normal day. Schools were open and most children living at the Father Ray Children’s Home set off for school as usual before the sun was up.
