Bangkok – The Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST) gave a warm welcome back to students from Thailand competing at the 20th Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO).
The Thai team of 8 students won 6 awards at the event held in Adelaide, Australia. One of the award-winning students, Pakorn Potanan, said he is proud to bring fame to the country, adding that he has previously been training hard, and received much support from his teachers, friends, and family, that led him to this success.
160 students from 22 countries and administrative regions competed in this year APhO, with a student from Russia receiving the highest gross score, a student from China posting the highest score in theoretical examinations, and a student from Kazakhstan receiving the highest score from laboratory examinations.
The IPST will be selecting contestants from Thailand and provide theoretical and practical training to students who will be competing at the 2019 International Physics Olympiad in Israel this coming July.
