Bangkok – A plan to reduce over 200,000 tons of the rice in government storage will allow those interested to bid at an auction held by the Public Warehouse Organization (PWO) on July 25.
The rice for sale is comprised of about 82,444 tons of state-owned rice for human consumption, 74,299 tons for use by industries but not for human or animal consumption, and 51,856 tons for either industry or animal consumption. The three types of rice total 280,000 tons.
From July 12 -19, those interested in attending the auction will be allowed to see the rice at each warehouse and submit documents to verify their qualifications on July 22. The result of the auction will be submitted to the Rice Policy and Management Committee for further consideration.
