BANGKOK, Aug 22 – A third group of Thai evacuees from strife-torn Egypt will arrive from Cairo with a load of more than 300 passengers.
The 332-seat Boeing 777, chartered by the Thai government from Egypt Air, is due to arrive Bangkok Friday morning with Thai Foreign Ministry.
Nattawut Pothisaro, deputy permanent secretary for foreign affairs, said the Thai embassy in Cairo has reported that the aircraft is scheduled to touch down on Thai soil tomorrow at 8.15am.
Relatives of the arriving Thais are requested to use Tel. 02 575 1047-9 for arrival details and whether the plane will arrive at Don Meuang or Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Mr Nattawut said another 164 Thais who asked to return to Thailand would have to wait for the next available commercial flights.
Thai Airways International informed the Foreign Ministry that its normally scheduled flight from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, would have about 80 seats available each day, Mr Nuttawut said.
The ministry may have to charter another flight from Cairo if a further large number of Thais intends to return home, he said. The ministry has not contacted the Royal Thai Air Force for aircraft to transport Thai citizens from Egypt to Thailand.
