The YWCA Bangkok-Pattaya Center will raise funds for an embattled AIDS hospice with a charity walk-run on June 11.
YWCA Chairwoman Praichit Jetapai announced May 28 that the event will begin at 4 p.m. in front of Central Festival Pattaya Beach. Three courses will be offered, stretching 1.5, 3 and 6 kilometers with an entry fee of 250 baht.
The fee includes a t-shirt plus food and drinks after the race.
Proceeds from the event will go toward a new home for the Glory Hut Foundation, which been engaged in a battle with residents of the Lang Nern Community who cited everything from the fear of children being infected with AIDS to ghosts in their campaign to evict the charity out of their Pattaya-area neighborhood.
Nongprue sub-district has found the hospice a site in Tungkomtan-Man and has been trying to raise 5 million baht for the move since last year.
Praichit said other proceeds from the walk-run will also go toward new water filters for schools and 10 other YWCA projects.
