PSC golf from Siam Country Resort

Tuesday, June 17, Pattavia Century – Stableford

Tuesday was a visit to Pattavia, where we played from the white tees at about 6,600 yards.  The course was in generally good condition although the greens have been neutralised a bit, to make them a little more user friendly.  Personally I think this is a bit of a shame as the greens are Pattavia’s key defense – they are on the small side and the pace, combined with the slopes, is what provides the major challenge.

Yves Philibert.Yves Philibert.

Yves Philibert (H/cap 33) was best able to come to terms with the challenges of the day with a fine 38 points, helped in part by a spectacular birdie 2 on the par-three 17th which netted him a 5-pointer.  Jeff Wylie (6) was the best of the rest with 35 points, to go with his 2 near pins.  As mentioned before, Yves got one of the other near pins, while Neil knocked the flag out on 13 to make a nice birdie also.

Thursday, June 19, Pleasant Valley – Stableford

Pleasant Valley was our Thursday venue, from the blues at about 6300 yards, with the course in just fair condition as it was a little damp following some heavy overnight rain.  Having said that, my group only required 1 or 2 casual water drops for the round, most of the damper spots being before the fairways started.

The best score of the day was 34 points from Jeff Wylie (6), ahead of Martin Hayes (15) with 32.  Near pins went to Neil, Paddy & Jeff.

Friday was the PSC tournament which SCR supports every month, with Pleasant Valley again being the venue.  A flight were off the blue tees and it was Jeff Wylie who led the way with an unspectacular 80, net 74 while in the B flight from the whites, Willem Lasonder (18) was 1 of 3 players to sign for 41 points, eventually getting second spot after losing on the last 3 in the count back process.  I must shout out a congrats to all winners on the day, but a special mention to Mike Allidi who won the Low Gross with 72, an outstanding score compared to the rest.

Note:  Siam Country Resort, Restaurant & Bar is located just off Siam Country Club Rd, after going under the arch past the 7/11, turn right after 50 metres, with the venue on the left another 200 metres along.  Golf from here is generally played on Tuesday & Thursday, with the Resort hosting prompt presentations on both days.  As a PSC affiliated venue we welcome ALL golfers, including ladies & seniors (>60s) who have opted for the “Silver” tee option.  Call 089 094 1841 for scheduling or enquiries.  Hope to see you there, cheers & good golfing!
