Tan’s team triumphs at JP Classic bowls tourney

The J.P. Classic lawn bowls tournament was held at The Retreat in East Pattaya over the weekend Sept. 26-27.

The competition had 16 teams from Pattaya and Bangkok all fighting to win the classic trophy and the substantial prize money associated with it.

The first day consisted of 48 qualifying matches and ended up with 8 teams going into the Classic finals and the other 8 teams contesting the Minor classic, taking place on the following day.

Tournament winners, Tan’s team from Bangkok, lift the J.P. Classic trophy.

After many closely fought matches, the final saw Tan’s team from Bangkok take on a local side consisting of Darren, Frank and Mushroom.  It was nip and tuck all the way with Tan’s bowlers just edging it in an exciting finish to the tournament.

Third place went to Brian, Pooky and Alex who defeated Ian, Nina and Alan in the playoff match.

There was lots of celebrating going on after the matches had finished with all parties enjoying themselves.  The competition was a fantastic success with the sponsor J.P. (John Parkinson, proprietor of the Players Lounge, Soi Buawkow) promising many more to come.
