Sunday, April 7, Green Valley – Stableford

A quick round today as the course was quiet. Although our numbers are starting to go down we still had enough for two flights with the cut for the A flight coming in at fifteen.

The scoring was pretty average with only one player beating his handicap and another playing to his. Terry Mangan (19) won the B flight with thirty five points, Donal McGuigan (16) came second with thirty three and Joe Peters (24) again featured in the prizes today, coming third with thirty one and beating Paul Butler on countback.

Better scoring came in the A flight which was won by Kevyn Wright (10) with thirty seven points. Shaun Merriman (10) came second with thirty six but actually Shaun was the really big winner today as he had the only 2 and he also collected a big carryover from the previous Sunday when we had none. Michael Williams (12) completed the podium in third with thirty four points.

Tuesday, April 9, Eastern Star – Stableford

We only had 2 groups today at the very hard but fantastic value Eastern Star golf course.. On arrival we were told that the greens had just been cored & sanded (not to heavily) and we will use that as our excuse for the very poor scoring today. The rest of the course was in good condition.

The best of a bad bunch today was Craig Hitchens (12) with 30 points, in second was Mikael Andersson (15) with 29 and occupying third spot was Glen Perkinson (16) on 28. There were no 2’s today.

Thursday, April 11, Burapha – Stableford

We were here again for our regular Thursday game in Burapha where we played the A bad B courses. Today the bunkers were showing a bit of wear and tear after all the heavy rain but otherwise the course was is in its usual perfect condition.

We had two flights with the cut for the A flight coming in at fifteen and while we got reasonable scoring in both flights the top tier was by far the best. The winner here was Jerry Sweetnam (10) with a very good thirty nine points for a clear two shot win. We then had two players tied on thirty seven points and here the countback went down to the last six holes, with Shaun Merriman (10) coming out on top to take the second place and Pete Seil (6) having to settle for third.

In the B flight Bernie Stafford (17) was the winner with thirty six points, Terry Mangan (19) came second with thirty five and we had two players with thirty two points. Here Joe Peters (24) won the countback to take the third place and Ted Morris lost out.

We had four 2s today, coming from Jerry Sweetnam, Shaun Merriman, Bernie Stafford and Mossey Quaid
