Monday, Oct. 9, Phoenix Gold – Stableford

The Phoenix course was in great condition but carts were allowed only in the rough as the fairways were a bit wet in some places.  Coming in third place today was Capt Bob with 32 points while second went to Gary Ritchie with 34.  Lloyd Shuttleworth occupied the top spot on the podium with 36 points and he also got the only ‘2’ of the day.

Wednesday, Oct. 11, Green Valley – Stableford

It seems a daily occurrence recently that every day is heralded with thunderous applause accompanied by heavy rain and many rounds of golf abandoned with lightening being the main culprit.  Fortunately the rain relented today and permitted a full, uninterrupted round of golf although there were many reminders of the recent weather and preferred lies were necessary.

15 ladies again stood on the tee and their scores were very good.  Miss Sa occupied fourth place with 35 points, 2 behind Miss Nu who, despite 3 blobs, finished with 37 and 21 on the back-nine.  Miss Da had 21 points on the front 9 and took second place with 38, but still 2 points behind Miss Kran who took today’s honours.

The scores for the men were equally good, with fourth place going to Mike Sanders on 35 points, 2 points less than Sel Peters in third.  William Macey still cannot avoid blobs on his card but he claimed second with 38 points and Freddie Starbeck stood atop the podium with a fine 40-pointer.

Surprisingly, there was only one 2 today and that came from Paul Greenaway.

Friday, Oct. 13, Burapha – Stableford

With the amount of rain the course has endured it was in surprisingly good condition, with fast greens that were easy to putt on.

Arch Armstrong took fourth spot on the podium with 34 points while third went to Ian Rogers with 36, just being edged out of the silver by John Anderson on a count-back.  Top spot went to Lloyd Shuttleworth with a fine 39 points and he once again got the only ‘2’ of the day.
