The Tara Court Golf Society
Sunday, Sept. 3, Silky Oak – Stableford
1st Ged Foy (19) 38pts
2nd Donal McGuigan (19) 37pts
3rd Don Everett (22) 36pts
4th Russell Gilroy (17) 34pts
5th Shaun Merriman (11) 22pts
While Russell Gilroy didn’t actually win here today at Silky Oak he did something which was probably much more satisfying as he recorded a hole-in-one. On the 16th hole he hit a perfect 8-iron which went straight into the hole for the second one of his career. Ronan Simms and Don Everett both had a ‘2’s today but got nothing for them.
Our points winner today was Ged Foy with an excellent 38 on his card while Donal McGuigan came second just one behind and Don Everett came third with thirty-six.
Tuesday, Sept. 5,
Mt. Shadow – Stableford
1st Don Everett (22) 34pts
2nd Russell Gilroy (17) 31pts
3rd Craig Robson (12) 30pts
When we arrived here today at Mountain Shadow there wasn’t a car in the car park. Despite having the course virtually to ourselves there was no great golf on show today and none of us managed to play to our handicaps.
Don Everett was the winner with 34 points and Russell Gilroy was second place three points back. We then had a three-way count back on 31 with Craig Robson edging it for third.
Pat Carty had the only ‘2’ of the day.
Thursday, Sept. 7, Burapha – Stableford
1st Craig Robson (12) 44pts
2nd Russell Gilroy (17) 34pts
3rd Andy Featherstone (6) 32pts
On what was a very hot and humid day today we truly had millionaire’s golf at Burapha on a beautiful and deserted golf course. We again played the A and B courses and as usual they were in immaculate condition.
Once again the standard of golf wasn’t great, maybe it was the heat or the humidity that caused it. The exception was Craig Robson who was a clear ten shot victor with an excellent forty four points and four over gross. Craig has been playing very good golf on this trip and while his handicap has already come down two shots this will bring it down even more.
We had no ‘2’s today.
