Back on the revamped A & B courses today and scoring was good with half the field shooting better than handicap. In the top order were three players on 39 points and in order of count back, Jimmy Little was third, Kim Danboise took second and Jimmy Brackett clinched the win.
Surprisingly, there were five ‘2’s today, with Bob St. Aubin recording a brace and Peter Stonebridge, John Cunningham and KB Lee having one each.

Tuesday, May 24, Laem Chabang – Stableford

1st Andy Butterworth (13) 34pts
2nd Gary Lawson (23) 33pts
3rd Ron Dickie (9) 32pts

With a couple of no-shows on the day our field was reduced to just two groups, which is unusual even for the low season. Ron Dickie, playing much better again, came third from the blue tees, whilst Gary Lawson recorded second spot from the whites with 33 points. Andy Butts, also playing from the whites ruled the day with great 34 points. I suspect that Andy will be off golf for a while as he just became the proud father of a young boy. Congratulations on both achievements Andy!

Wednesday, May 25, Greenwood – Stableford

1st William Eyles (19) 40pts
2nd Kim Danboise (17) 39pts
3rd Lee Kwang Bae (10) 38pts

Greenwood is undoubtedly the best value golf course in Pattaya at the moment, and it is a course that we will be visiting more frequently in June due to its popularity and great value. The only negative in getting there and back through Amata City and the roadworks on the 331, but as a course it is beautifully designed, well maintained and the most affordable there is.

In third place today, KB Lee scored an impressive 38 points from his 10 handicap while Kim Danboise finally came good with his putting to post 39 points for second. It was to no avail however as Billy Eyles had a great front nine to finish with 40 points and take the overall win.

Friday, May 27, Green Valley – 2-Ball Scramble

1st Andy Makara & Sugar Ray Handford
2nd Wayne & Eng Cotterell
3rd Bob Lindborg & Barry Fisher

Near Pins: Bruce McAdam (Hole 5), Cottee (Hole 6), Andy Makara (Holes 12 & 16)
Nearest in 2: Eddie/Pat (Hole 11), KB/George (Hole 18)

With a fun 2-ball scramble format and a day of great food and lots of prizes sponsored by our birthday boys, Bob Lindborg and Bob Mattes, what better way is there to start a day off at Green Valley. A special welcome back to Barney Clarkson who didn’t play but did join us in the afternoon, and that contributed to the merry atmosphere as many of Barney’s old friends were at the bar.

Green Valley was in good shape shortly before the Singha professional tournament and the greens were immaculate.

Always competitive, Sugar Ray took great joy in taking a few bob from playing partners Eddie and Pat due to Andy Makara sinking putts from everywhere. Playing perfect dovetail golf on the back nine, Sugar and Andy won in the end on count back from Eng and Cottee with a fantastic score of net 62 and only 27 on the back nine. What a fabulous performance and nice when everything works like it should!
