Love is in the air

101st PSC Members Monthly Open

In his first game with the PSC, Kari Kuparinen took all the honours today, first of all by winning low gross, and then surprising everyone when accepting his prize by proposing to his sweetheart.  Happily for us all (especially him) she accepted.

Kari Kuparinen, right, receives his Low Gross prize from PSC Golf Chairman Joe Mooneyhan.

This was certainly a first for Pattaya Sports Club presentations and we wish good luck to the happy couple.

The tournament was played on Friday, Oct. 22, at Pattana Sports Club & Resort, a fine facility offering 27 holes of quality golf and one of the most impressive clubhouses to be found anywhere.

With 84 registered golfers, 77 men and 3 ladies, we began with a 2-tee start.  As there was rain the previous night, ‘lift, clean and place’ rules were in effect.  We were blessed with good weather on the day and a pleasurable day on the links was enjoyed by most.  Again I mention that ladies are welcome and we hope to see several newcomers next month at The Emerald on November 19 to play alongside Thip Federspile, Phompimon Seesa and Orawan Sodak, who represented the ladies this month.

Apart from Kari Kuparinen, other successes on the day were recorded by Ed Wycoff who returned a net 69 to win the A Flight, Richard Warberg with 39 points in the B Flight and William Chang with a whopping 42 points in C Flight.

Dick Warburg, right, was the B Flight winner.

Birdie ‘2’s were chalked up by Ulf Bergen, Colm Mullen, Seamus Cotter, Mike Gosden, Ed Wycoff, Mike Jefferys, and Terry Mangan with two.
