Kiteboarding Thailand Championship draws surfers of all ages

Extreme surfers young and old flocked to Dongtan Beach in Sattahip for Thailand Kiteboard Championships cosponsored by the Royal Thai Navy.

Patrol squadron commander Rear Adm. Surasak Methayapha presided over the May 28 opening ceremony for the May 28-29 event.

Kiteboarders completed in three categories: twin tip racing, Lord of Hangtime, and a general public bracket for ages 19-39.

The event also featured a youth category for teens up to 18 years old, and a bracket for those over 40.

Former Culture Minister Sonthaya Kunplome handed out the winning trophies along with Adm. Naris Prathumsuwan, commander of the Royal Thai Fleet.
