Wednesday, Jan. 2, Crystal Bay – Stableford

Complete chaos today as we arrived at the Mountain Shadow clubhouse as there was no booking for us and we were not down to play, so seven groups moved over to Crystal l Bay instead. The course was in reasonable condition with the front nine B course having very slick greens but on the back-nine some of the putting surfaces were very slow.

Bruce Gardner won the B flight with 38 points while John Carlin beat Lars Strom countback for second at the 37 point mark and Jerry McCarthy was fourth with 35.

Paul Butler topped the premier division with 36 points, Harry Vincenzi, with a 17/16 countback, beat Pete Sumner for second after two 34-pointers came in, and in fourth place there were four contenders but Mark Robertson’s back-nine edged the best efforts of Ian Speirs, Brian Keating and Ron Miller.

Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) John Chambers, Ron Miller and Dennis Scougall, and (Div 2) Bruce Gardner, Conrad and Jerry McCarthy.

Jerry McCarthy was also happy with a ‘2’ on C7 to scoop the division 2 pot and in division 1 the spoils were shared by John Chambers, Ron Miller and Harry Vincenzi.
