Juniors put on dazzling soccer show at Planet Football

Over the last couple of weekends, Planet Football held a range of competitions at their state of the art new facility here in Pattaya.  Teams travelled from as far afield as Bangkok, Nakhom Pathom, Chantaburi, Chonburi, Rayong, Sattahip and Siricha to take on local teams from the Pattaya area,  all competing to be crowned champions in their respective age groups.

Spectators were rewarded with some brilliant football played over the 4 days and none more so than in the U13 final between SCG Muang Thong United and Anusorn, formally known as Army United.  With some of the top academies in the country attending these competitions it’s a major step in the right direction for grassroots football and the development of youth players here in Pattaya.

Local team FC Planet were crowned U11 champions.

In the U9 MRS Cup, FC Planet came in third place after a comfortable victory over Arty21 of Chonburi who had previously beaten FC Planet in the early stages of the competition.  The final was played out between the local Pattaya team Baan Football and PK Academy of Bangkok.  PK Academy took a deserved lead in the second half and were the better team throughout but against the run of play Baan Football snatched the trophy with two late goals to be crowned champions.

In the U10 category, third place went to Anusorn FC of Bangkok after defeating Bowin side Orawin FC 1-0.  The two group winners faced each other in the final and it was Champion FC that took home the trophy against an FC Planet team that hadn’t conceded a goal all day up until this fixture.  Champions FC proved worthy winners though and lifted the trophy with a deserved 3-0 victory.

SCG Muang Thong United – U13 champions.

In the U11 PPC Cup, Bang Jak of Rayong took the bronze medals, coming through a tight game against Tdamasiri to clinch third place.  An exciting final between Champions FC and FC Planet did not disappoint the spectators.  Champions were favorites after comfortably beating FC Planet in the group stages but the home side had different ideas.  FC Planet took an early lead and eventually went on to dominate the game against the team from Nakhom Pathom, winning 5-1 to take home the trophy.

Champion FC took home the U10 title.

Finally the U13 category was dominated by SCG Muang Thong United and Anusorn FC, both teams winning every game up until the final where they finally met each other.  A large crowd watched as SCG showed their class with a dazzling performance of skill and technique to run out 5-0 victors against a very strong opposition in Anusorn.  Third place went to FC Planet who won comfortably 8-0 in a play-off against Arty 21.

The tournament organizers wish to thank sponsors MRS, PPC and John Thomson for the kind support in developing youth football here in Pattaya.
