Tuesday, May 9, Black Mountain – Stableford

After our booking at the Banyan was cancelled due to the coring of all the greens, we were playing Black Mountain over two days and with a green fee of 1300 baht there were no complaints.

Peter Davies recorded the best score of the day, winning division 2 with 39 points.  Colin James, still in form, was second with 35 and Ross Schiffke took third on 33.

John Oxley, the Hua Hin resident, topped division 1 with 35 points, one ahead of Pete Summner in second while Tim Hake was third with 31.

Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) Martin Grimoldby, Don Head and Phil Mitchell (2), and (Div 2) Glyn Evans and Colin James.

Phill Mitchell birdied the 11th for the only ‘2’ in division 1 and there was a rollover in division 2 to Thursday.

Martin Grimoldby birdied the 11th for the only ‘2’ of the day.

Friday, May 12, Springfield – Stableford

Our final round of the week and on a course we hadn’t played for around seven years, but very enjoyable it was while it lasted with some tough par fours that were not reachable for quite a few players in two shots.

Unfortunately, after eleven holes the heavens opened and an hour of rain flooded the course and the competition had to be cancelled although a few of our hardy regulars carried on to finish the 18.

The overall winners of the tour after three rounds were as follows: 1st Colin James (110pts), 2nd John Oxley (104pts), 3rd Tim Hake (102pts), 4th Ross Schiffke (101pts) and 5th Peter Davies (98pts).  It was a brilliant week enjoyed by all..
