PSC Golf from The Growling Swan

Monday, March 28, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

Twenty punters assembled today looking forward to the challenge ahead.  The weather was warm, however a gentle breeze made playing conditions quite pleasant.  The greens, as per usual, were tricky and parts of some fairways were drier than an AA meeting.

In the A grade, Alex Field on the first nine took longer to get cranked up than a council road gang however he lifted his game on the flipside, handing in thirty three points to stand atop the podium.  Pierre Cere with thirty two and Peter Bailey with twenty nine rounded it out.

Monthly Mug winner Geri Crilly with Peter Bass, Alisha Slender, Bill Steinmann and Mike Gosden.

In the B grade Mike Gosden scored thirty six points, Mr. Consistency John Anderson was on thirty five and John Coetzee mustered thirty four to come in third.

Thursday, March 31, Pattavia – Stableford

Twenty nine golfers turned out to compete for this month’s Monthly Mug.  The enthusiasm was high as reports coming back to us suggested that even though there was a shortage of rain in the area, this course was in great shape.  I can say that the feedback was a 100% correct – a great course in great shape (if you can handle the greens).

The weather was hot however a light breeze prevailed which kept our playing conditions quite pleasant.  I will not go on about it but all that took part today made comments as to how well the course played, although scores did not reflect this.

Bill Steinmann showed Div 1 a clean set of heels having a good day with his 68 net, a birdy tells me that he missed a couple of easy putts early in the day which could have made a big difference.  Div 2 was taken out by the coach Mike Gosden, putting 5 strokes between he and second.  Then the big story of the day, Geri Crilly with a 65 net taking out not only the division but also this month’s Monthly Mug.  He ended up 15 strokes ahead of second.
