Twenty-one players made the trip up Highway 331 to take on the very popular Greenwood GC.  We played C & B nines, from the white tees and at 6,200 yards (approx.) we had plenty of run but it still made it a tough day for all. The course was in very good condition (as always) and the greens played as they always do, fast and tricky!  The weather gods were on our side with a slight breeze and no chance of rain.

Mick Johns showed the way today with a very good 40 points in Div. A.  He was followed in by Keith Buchanan, with Tom Berry filling the third spot on the podium.

Div B saw relatively new golfer Andy Zwart return an impressive score of 41 points to take the win, this being his best with us so far.  Coming in second was Tiziano Dal Pastro, with Lorrain Percy filling the last spot.

A good size group of 21 golfers headed out to Crystal Bay to tackle the B & C courses.  Conditions were quite good, with the breeze slightly rising for the second nine.  White tees were the choice for the day, which made scoring that little bit tougher.

Two divisions were required and the A Grade players were wondering whether ‘The Viper’ (Mark Stapleton) was in fact in their division as his Crystal Bay form is electric.  Although it wasn’t to be The Viper’s day he was happy enough with his second placing, via a count back with 35 points.

Victory in fact went to the soon to depart Hugh Knox with a solid 37 points and if memory serves correct he also won his last game with the Growling Swan in 2016, during a brief visit.  He is becoming a “hit & run” specialist.  Third spot was filled by Alex Field with a very respectable 35 points.

B Division was taken out by Andy Zwart who overcame an episode in a bunker to card 32 points.  Second spot was filled by newcomer Bryce Buckley who was most lucky to play with 3 club veterans, Young, Stapleton & Allen, and they helped (or was it dragged?) him to 31 points.  Jayson Schembri snuck into third spot with a moderate 30 points.  He had basically given up on a podium place with only 13 points after 11 holes, but managed a few good holes on the back-nine to make his card look a little respectable.
