PSC Golf from The Growling Swan

Monday, Dec. 29, Pattavia – Stableford

A field of twenty-seven starters gathered in Soi Chaiyapoon for our last game of the year.  Welcomes were handed out to Frankie Sharratt, Rob Galer, Ian Masterson and Robert Allen, plus Pattaya residents John Swanson, Brian Noguer and Alan Ray.  Bent Agerbo meanwhile headed home to Denmark minus his new bride.

The weather was great and in Aussie rules vernacular, a three goal breeze was in attendance.

Pre-game change room chatter included Andrew Allen commenting, “Always drink upstream from the herd.”  It goes without saying he is very thoughtful fellow and a Collingwood supporter.

The course was in good nick whilst the greens, despite not having seen the business end of a lawn mower for some time, saw downhill putts quicker than Usain Bolt in a one hundred-metre dash.

In the A grade, Roy Dayton handed in a solid thirty-four points to take top spot.  Mike Gosden and Don Richardson on thirty-two each finished second and third respectively, whilst Fred Cuypers, with a score of twenty-seven points, rounded it out.

In the B grade, Hugh O’Donnell handed in a magnificent forty-two pointer to absolutely blitz the field.  Andrew Allen was delighted with his forty point podium finish in third place was Gazza Monley with thirty-six, with Allen Ray completing the podium on thirty-five.

The Coveted Compass Cap saw Volker Buley score eleven points and confess, “I would have had my resources fully tested bowling a hoop downhill, let alone playing something resembling good golf.”  Kae won the lucky draw.

Deefa was again happy to receive many donations and the players are thanked for their continued generosity.

Note: The GS is a friendly golf outlet and caters for and encourages all golfers male or female to have a hit at any of our weekly outings.  We generally play Mondays and Thursdays at one of the many fine golf courses in and around Pattaya.  Please contact Peter Grey if you are interested on 0861 503086.

The Growling Swan also caters to the bowls enthusiasts.  Bus transport departs the GS on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. to play at Cocos on undercover synthetic greens and on Sundays at the same time for open grass bowling at The Retreat.  Please contact Paul Rennison on 0843 454005 if you wish to partake.  The cost including return bus transport, bowling fees and a hot lunch is less than 400 baht so great value for a day out.
