Wednesday, June 14, Eastern Star – Stableford

Five groups out today with nineteen players and the cut set at 8-16.6 and 17.1+.  We were lucky with the weather today as there were a few spots of rain that only lasted on one hole for around five minutes.

Dave Horne came in with 39 points to win division 1, with Brian Green in second on 38, while Bill Bertram, in his last game with us before a permanent return to the USA, lost third spot to Colin Aspinall on count back after both scored 35 points each.

Alan Bissell topped division 2 with 37 points, with Tony Thorne in second place on 34 and Rod Howett taking third after beating Paul Butler 18/17 on the back-nine after they both scored 33 points.

Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) Mikael Andersson, Colin Aspinall, Bill Bertram and Tom Yahnke, and (Div 2) John Hughes and Tony Thorne (2).

Once again there were no ‘2’s in either division.

Friday, June 16, Treasure Hill – Stableford

Both divisions played off the yellow tees today at 6380 yards and it was in good condition with some splendid green scenery surrounding the course.  Some of the greens were slightly unpredictable and not as slick as normal, which is understandable for this time of the year.
