For a change today we played St Andrews as Green Valley was closed due to the Singha Championship and we found the course in reasonable condition, though there was virtually no sand in the bunkers and off the fairways even by a little bit the semi rough was very long and almost impossible to find the ball or hit it out of it sometimes. It was also very hot and humid today which was surprising after the cooler weather we have had for the past few weeks.

Michael Healy has had what was probably his best ever golf with us on this trip and today, on what was his last game, he had a double reason to celebrate. Michael won the day with an excellent thirty nine points but I think what pleased him most was the fact that he had been playing a series of matches against one of our locals and today he emerged the victor. Well done Michael and we look forward to seeing you for the month of December.

Bob St Alban was playing what I think was his first ever game with us and he came second with an even par round while Allan Parker took the third place a further point back and also had a ‘2’ to make the payout better. Richi Hurley took the fourth spot with thirty two points and also had a ‘2’ and Russel Gilroy completed the podium in fifth.

Tuesday, June 7, Pattavia – Stableford
1st Ger Lodge (19) 38pts
2nd Joe McArdle (12) 36pts
3rd Russell Gilroy (16) 35pts
4th Derek Kane (21) 34pts
2’s: Wichai Tanasusorn

Today we were again joined by our friends from the PFGS for the trip to Pattavia. As usual the course was in good condition but the staff had started sanding the greens and for the first fourteen holes and while putting is always difficult here, today the sand made it even more so. It was not quite as hot as it had been on Sunday and although it looked like rain sometimes we still got round dry.

The greens proved not to be a problem for Ger Lodge as he scored thirty eight points and won the comp ahead of Joe McArdle who took the second place with thirty six. Russell Gilroy was a further point behind in third while Derek Kane took the fourth and last spot with thirty four points.

Thursday, June 9, Burapha – Stableford
1st Ged Foy (20) 43pts
2nd Ger Lodge (19) 40pts
3rd Kevin Blake (7) 35pts
2’s: Joe McArdle

We were on the A and B courses again today here at Burapha and we decided to play off the shorter white tees. Maybe we made it too easy as although we had only three groups out, we still had some excellent scores.

Ged Foy was our runaway winner with a fantastic forty three points, which will mean a big reduction in his handicap. Ger Lodge also had a great score of forty points, a return that would normally win easily but I know Ger won’t mind too much as he won a very important match he was playing against one of our locals to bring him back level after six games. Kevin Blake took the third and final podium place with thirty five.
