The Golf Club weekly roundup

It is all very somber here in Pattaya as we mourn the death of the King.  Players are requested to dress respectfully and keep noise to a minimum. We are allowed to serve alcohol but no loud music is permitted.  This will last until mid-November, but these are sad days for our Thai friends and indeed we falangs who are saddened to see such sorrow on their faces.

Monday, Oct. 17, Green Valley (white tees) – Stableford

T1st Corey Cusatis (23) 35pts

T1st Chuck Taylor (27) 35 points

T1st Adrian Dembinski (25) 35pts

Today we saw a three-way tie on the podium and all were on the 35 point mark.  Correy, Chuck and Adrian were the best of the field to share the win here today.  The Caddy Smile near pin went to out buddy Peter Thomas.

Tuesday, Oct. 18, Bangpra (yellow tees) – Stableford

1st Max Scott (6) 36pts

2nd Greg Nicholson (9) 28pts

It was a small turnout today for the difficult Bangpra, but the lads had a good day out finding cooler weather under overcast skies.

It is very unusual to find only one golfer break 30 points, but it was Max Scott who did just that.  Max is back, and today his winning score eclipsed the field by a whopping 8 points!

Thursday, Oct. 20, Khao Kheow (white tees) – Stableford

1st Max Scott (7) 41pts

2nd Phil Smedley (15) 37pts

3rd Terry Pettitt (12) 35pts

These are the days we look forward to all summer, when Buddhist Lent signals the end of the rainy season.  We have cooler days now and although it sounds silly to those up north, we see about 30 minutes less daylight in late October.

Khao Kheow was pretty spectacular today and the term “Millionaire’s golf” was perfectly appropriate.  The course was in superb condition.

Our mate Terry Pettitt is back in town from England and shot a 35 right off the plane.  Capt. Phil even got into the act with 37 points as well as the Caddy Smile near pin.  I think he likes those because they don’t affect your handicap.

The story of the week was the return of Max Scott, and his win today made it two in a row for the 7-handicapper.  Now that’s the way to make an impressive return!
