Sunday, Oct. 1, Green Valley – Stableford

Threatening cloud & distant rain did not stop 12 players today at Green Valley.  The course is getting back to good condition , but still a bit wet in places so ‘lift clean & place’ was used.

It’s been a while since Pat Carty (H/cap 28) was on the winning podium but he was back today, taking the win on a count-back over Paul Pavloff (7), both with 37 points.  Russell Gilroy (17) was third with 36 and in fourth place came Paula Koppatz (23) with 35, keeping Bob St Aubin out of the places on count-back.

Russell Gilroy had the only 2 today to take the full pot.

Tuesday, Oct. 3, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

A short round of golf today here at Mountain Shadow.  When we arrived there we were told by one of our caddies (who I will not name) that 100% there would be no rain today.  Unfortunately her prediction did not come true and we only got three holes played when the heavy rain came down.  We waited for an hour and it eased off and we played another two holes but then we had to abandon it.

Thursday, Oct. 5, Burapha – Stableford

We had intended to play two flights today, off both the blue and white tees but when we arrived and found that the fairways were so wet and that there would be absolutely no run on the ball we all decided to play off the shorter whites.  Even off those it was playing very long and in some cases it was hard to find the ball as it was plugged on the fairway.

We had one excellent score as Andy Featherstone went round in two over par gross to score 39 points off his five-handicap and once again he came out the winner, this time by two points.   Mark Lang (6) took second place with 37 but as it turned out he actually got the most money today as he also had two ‘2’’s.  We had two players on 36 points and here Marc Brunner (9) won the count-back to take the third place over Joe Peters (22).  Jon Batty (6) got the fifth and last podium place with 34.

Marc Brunner and Lyle Blaw also recorded birdie ‘2’s to take a share of the pot with Mark Lang.
